Success comes to those who aspire for it!

MMU

I am Vartika Sharma, a passionate student of Architecture from MMU who feels blessed to be a part of Airports Authority of India for the past six months, and considers myself fortunate to be trained under Ar. Debashis Khan, one of the big names in Architecture in India. AAI was the best platform to understand the practical applications of the concepts I tried to use in my Thesis of Airport Designing, and also to learn further on the same subject. It was an amazing and enriching experience to intern at AAI.

Important lessons I learned:

  • Be in time – Not just being punctual but also sticking to the deadlines while working.
  • Small tea/coffee breaks are also important – To refresh the mind and then start the work with new ideas and solutions to the problems encountered.
  • Be responsible – Even if you do something wrong own up and take the responsibility, and improve on it as early as possible.
  • Be polite – To everyone around you, that’s what creates your aura.
  • Keep learning

My success journey began with MMU’s MM School of Architecture. I would like to thank the entire Family of MM School Of Architecture for guiding me to follow my dreams and also helping me at every step in this journey.

It is at this university, I realised that the interest and enthusiasm of learning more and more and improving after every mistake is helping me to make the best use of my time.

I would like to share about my internship experience. My day began with reporting to my senior Architect within first one hour of the day about the progress of the work.

We had our lunch break around 1:40-2, when we used to have lunch together in the canteen with all the other interns in the office, discussing about different projects everyone was working on and also about the future plans further.

After lunch, it was time for the main boss to review the work and guide further, so the sequence of scoldings, corrections and improvements led us all together to the final design.

Somedays in a month, we even used to have presentations by Material Suppliers, Consultants and Service Providers, which used to be really interesting and also awakening at times about the new technologies and materials coming up in the field. And luckily we were allowed to be a part of these presentations and enhance our knowledge.

After my internship, I feel I can design Airports in future, and contribute my part in Airport Planning and Designing anywhere I go!

I was well prepared for my internship at AAI, after the intensive grilling sessions we went through in our Thesis journey at MMSOA, which prepared us for converting all the future challenges into possibilities.

My Advice to students of Architecture is to choose their college or university after research. Go for the one which sends for best internship projects like MMSOA sent me to work in Airport Authority of India.

And one more suggestion for interns -Don’t forget to maintain a log book, as it will definitely help you while compiling your work later.

I truly thanks MMSOA faculty for mentoring me in this field and helping me build a bright future for myself.
